December's Musings:
The Nicest Present

Under the tree the gifts enthrall,
But the nicest present of them all
Is filling our thoughts with those who care,
Wanting our Christmas joy to share.

To you, whom I'm often thinking of,
I send my holiday joy and love,
Then more recipe files to be posted
After the New Year has been toasted.

April's Musings:
April Fool's Day   I hope that you enjoyed my little prank.   I think I'll leave it in place for a few days so that everyone has a chance to see it.   Keep the donations coming in so that the dreaded "404" doesn't become a reality!   Just a couple of dollars every so often from each of you is all it takes to keep current with the expenses for this site.

March's Musings:
St. Patrick's Day   is just around the corner, but celebrating with kegs of green beer is getting a bit dated.   That is why Caravella Limoncello developed a more sophisticated cocktail for the green holiday: the St. Patrick's Day Mint-tini.   They'd love for me to share their recipe with you, so here it is!

December's Musings:
HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO ONE AND ALL

OK, something new from the Emporium, folks.   As sort of a holiday present to you, I am going to give a try at providing a recipe series complete with pictures for those of you who are using MasterCook 5 or above.   At each offering there will be two versions to choose between; the standard version that you have become accustomed to (the recipe export files without pictures) and a much larger zipped file containing a recipe file, a picture file, and a Read-Me file.   The read-me file will be your instructions for adding these recipes to your collection.

Also, the donation situation has improved and I thank each and every one of you who made a donation for your generosity, but there are still many visitors who don't see or choose to ignore this plea.   But, just like the vicar at church, I will be constantly passing the collection plate.

November's Musings:
I'm sorry that my recipe uploads haven't been all that prolific lately.   I had serious health issues at the first part of this year and then my dinky-clunky computer decided to have a serious crash in which I lost all of the collected recipes that I was currently working on.   I've been busy trying to re-collect those recipes and more.

Also, The donation situation has left me disheartened.   Some visitors were generous and made a donation, but the majority of the visitors just grabbed the recipes and ran.   More people will have to give to make this work.   It doesn't have to be a large donation.   Consider a donation of just a dollar or two for each file downloaded.   That amounts to only one or two cents per recipe.

It's Up To You !

Help Keep This Site Online
This web site is purely non-profit; it is a hobby for me.   I, alone, spend about 6 hours every day gathering, formatting, and ensuring the recipes are of high quality and the web site is maintained and available at all times.   However, the money involved makes this hobby an expensive one.   Over the years the website has gained such popularity that the bandwidth became too excessive for the free hosted sites that I was using and I have had to move on to paid hosting.   With expenses constantly increasing, I can no longer afford to keep paying these bills out of my own pocket just so everyone else can have free MC-formatted recipes.   Therefore, if you have benefited from this site and find it enjoyable and useful, any donation amount, from $1 to $???, would help toward keeping the site up and running.   THANK YOU !

Throughout these pages you will find various collections of recipes personally formatted for MasterCook™ that are available to those of you who may wish to download them.   It is my intent to add newly formatted recipes files to this site on at least a monthly basis.   The recipe files are presented as zipped files and are held to not much more than 100 recipes at the maximum for ease of managing on both ends.
Click For Free Viewer
Since August of 1999 our uploaded recipe files have been exported in the dual MC4 - MC5/6 format.  While these recipes may appear strange if viewed in a text editor, MasterCook 4 will be able to import these recipes without any problems, and previous versions of MasterCook (MC II & MC-3) can import these strange looking recipes also, provided the recipe files are not too large (about 15 to 25 recipes).  Since that isn't the case with any of my files, I'll let you in on a little secret.  After unzipping the file(s), open it/them in a text editor.  Carefully scroll down removing (deleting) everything preceeding the first  * Exported From MasterCook *  heading that you come to.  Save the resulting file as a text file and then your MC II & MC-3 programs should accept them en masse.   There is also a new version of MM-Buster available from Glen Hosey that will easily convert these recipes for any of the remaining Meal-Master users that may wish to download these recipes.

To download these recipes, click on the selection that you want and save the file to the disk and/or directory of your choice.   Once downloaded, unzip them, the resulting ".MXP", and now the new ".MX2", recipe files should then import into your MasterCook™ cookbooks without any additional work on your part with the exception of the MC II, MC-3 and Meal-Master users as noted above.
